Defibtech Defibrillator DDU-100

Manufacturer: Defibtech Model: DDU-100 Features: The Defibtech DDU-100 is a semi-automatic External Defibrillator that is designed to be easy to use, portable and battery-powered.

It has only two buttons of use: ON / OFF and SHOCK. Voice messages and visual indications provide simple communication with the operator. The DDU-100 AED is capable of recording event information, including the ECG, audio data (optional), and SHOCK / NO SHOCK recommendations.

When connecting to the patient who is unconscious and without breathing, the DDU-100 AED performs the following tasks:

• Alert the operator to perform certain actions that allow the analysis

• Automatically analyzes the patient's ECG

• Determine if there is a feasible pace of being hit.

• Charge the defibrillator capacitor, and arm the SHOCK button if the AED detects a shocking rhythm.

• Alert the operator to press the SHOCK button, when the device is early, and it is indicated to apply a shock

• Unload a shock once the device has determined that a shock is required, and that the SHOCK button has been pressed.

• Repeat the process if additional shocks are indicated.

The Defibtech DEA will NOT automatically shock the patient; will only advise the operator. The SHOCK button is enabled only when a shocking rhythm is detected and the device is charged and ready to unload a shock. Charging occurs automatically when the device detects a shocking rhythm. The operator must press the SHOCK button to start the defibrillation. The DDU-100 AED uses two self-adhesive patches that monitor / defibrillate, to monitor the ECG signals and, if necessary, to discharge defibrillation energy to the patient.

These patches (also known as electrodes) are disposable, ie single-use. The DDU-100 AED determines if there is adequate contact of the patch with the patient, by monitoring the impedance between the two patches (the impedance varies with the electrical resistance of the patient's DAC-510E-AR Rev. D body). The visual and voice messages inform the operator about possible problems with contact with the patient. Voice messages, and visual indicators, communicate to the operator the situation of the AED and the patient.

The DDU-100 AED has two control buttons and several LED indicators. The defibrillation energy is discharged as an exponential truncated biphasic wave compensated by the impedance. The device downloads 150 Joules on an 50-ohm load when using adult patches, or when using attenuated patches of children, 50J defibrillation energy on a charge of 50 ohm. The energy released does not change significantly with the impedance of the patient, although the duration of the wave generated may vary.

The DEA Defibtech is designed to deliver up to 250J of defibrillating energy through a patient impedance in the range of 25 to 180 ohms or 50J of defibrillation energy when using patches for children. The defibrillation and the operating energy of the AED come from a lithium-based (non-rechargeable) battery that provides power for the surveillance and low maintenance situation.

The batteries are available in different configurations optimized for use in specific applications. Each battery is marked with an "install by" or expiration date. The DDU-100 DEA records the event documentation internally and optionally on the Defibtech data cards ("DDC"). The optional DDCs are connected in a slot in the AED that allows the AED to record the documents of the events, the audio (only on audio-enabled cards) if there is enough space in it. Audio recording is possible only in units with Defibtech Data Cards installed that have the possibility to record audio. The internally stored event documentation can be downloaded to a CDD for later review.

Directions

The use of DDU-100 AED is indicated in victims of sudden death (MS) when the patient is:

• lnconscious and does not respond

• Does not breathe

• Has no palpable pulse For patients under 8 years of age, use electrode patches for children. Do not delay treatment to determine the exact age or weight.

The DDU-100 AED must be used or indicated by a doctor.

Contraindications

The DDU-100 AED should not be used if the patient shows any of the following signs:

• Is aware and / or responds

• Breathe

• Has a palpable 1.5 pulse Operator's required training For a person to effectively operate the DDU-100 AED, he must meet the following requirements:

• Training in the use of the Defibtech DDU-100 DEA or training in basic resuscitation maneuvers according to local, state, provincial or national regulations.

• Any additional training according to the doctor who authorizes its use.

• Knowledge and understanding of the material presented in this User Manual

Use of the DDU-100 AED

This paragraph describes how the DDU-100 AED is used. The DDU-100 AED was designed to be simple to use, allowing the operator to concentrate on the patient. It has only two control buttons and four light-emitting diodes (LEDs) as indicators. The voice messages are concise and easily understandable and guide the operator in the use of the unit. The following sections describe in detail how to use the DDU-100 AED. The basic steps for use are:

• Turn the DDU-100 AED on by pressing the ON / OFF button.
• Connect the patches to the AED if they are not already.
• Place the patches on the patient (follow the instructions on the package of the patches).
• Follow voice messages.
• Press the SHOCK button if indicated by the AED.
